Peter Joseph Lenné (1789–1866) was a Prussian landscape architect and general director general of the Royal Prussian Gardens. He played a key role in the development of 19th-century landscape gardens in the Neoclassical style and left a lasting impact on the design of parks and gardens in Europe. One of Lenné’s most significant contributions was his work on the redesign of the extensive park and gardens of Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. He played a crucial role in the development of the Tiergarten in Berlin and the design of public parks in several other German cities. Many of his works are located in today’s western and north Poland and plays the role of an international garden heritage. These include the Zwierzyniec Park and the Działyński Palace Garden in Złotów, the seat town of the Złotów County in the Greater Poland region. The life and work of Peter Joseph Lenné were displayed at the ECSO exhibition in 2022.
