Scientific Conference on the 700-Year History of Duszniki-Zdrój
We cordially invite you to a unique scientific conference organized under the patronage of the Mayor of Duszniki-Zdrój, in collaboration with the Institute of Geography and Regional Development Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management of the University of Wrocław. The conference is titled: “Duszniki-Zdrój – Faces of the Town from the Perspective of 700 Years of History.” Łukasz Przybylak, President of the Eduard Petzold Foundation, will deliver a lecture on Carl Hampel and the Spa Park he designed.
The conference is interdisciplinary in nature and is aimed at representatives from academic, local government, and guiding communities. During the event, various aspects related to the history and contemporary issues of Duszniki-Zdrój will be discussed:
- Natural conditions in the town’s surroundings,
- Architecture and art in the urban space,
- Settlement issues,
- Changes in the cultural landscape,
- The spa: past and present,
- Legal conditions in the spatial development of the town.
A multi-author monograph dedicated to the conference’s theme is also planned for publication. Łukasz Przybylak, a historic gardens specialist and Chair of the Eduard Petzold Foundation Board, is the author of the revitalization concept for the Duszniki-Zdrój Spa Garden, developed between 2023 and 2024. In August 2024, he led a historical walk presenting the park’s 138-year history of the site to local residents. As part of the conference, he will deliver a lecture titled: “Carl Hampel and a Masterpiece of Garden Art from the Late 19th Century in Duszniki-Zdrój.”
